I also run mine under the flame of a lighter after the PG burn, gets it covered in thick black soot. Then I rollie paper the tip.
I was similar, I'd been on patches for about a month and cut down heaps but didn't stop completely till I got the spray as well, I hasn't smoked...

Another option is the aga T5. Nice vape, easy to build and good airflow, too much for some but I like it...
