That was a very interesting read. It makes me actually want to try a nicotine patch and see how it feels, and whether or not it actually has an effect on me. I like the feeling of a nicotine buzz and I've always thought it's made me a bit more focused so I can personally see how this article may be correct.

I've heard of nicotine health benefits but never that it could possibly make you smarter. That's pretty intriguing. I'd be open to trying a patch just to see what I feels like but I'd have to do more research first though.

    I am high
I am highly agree with you since it makes me feel the same as you, however I would not take nicotine that way, only with cigarettes, that is the only way I would hit nicotine, not any other way.

Very interesting read, I had heard about this before but never read such a complete article. The main problem is were nicotine comes from and the amount which is healthy. It will be different for anyone.

I remember reading about Stephen King talking about how nicotine helped his creativity. I think he quit cigarettes and that was something he noticed. It's interesting to see other benefits of it.

Yes, I can state that this is true. Huge King fan here, like, not just I watched some movies based on his novels type of fan... I'm obsessed! I've read all 52 of his novels (favorite is Misery).

Anyways, back on track... He did say that smoking helped his creativity and he noticed a huge effect after he quit. Many other authors have said this too. Including, Kurt Vonnegut....

So, I'm sure it does increase creativity. I believe it.

So seeing the stereotypical writer chain smoking away at a typewriter in movies may not be far from the truth, hah.

It's highly addictive, but I can see from reading the article how it could be good for you. I guess it's just bad, since it's addictive, when coupled with tobacco.

I doubt that it will make you smarter. I can't seem to wrap my head around this as I have never heard anyone say that before. Does that mean people who smoke cigarettes may be very smart secretly? I'm not sure but I will do more research on this very soon.

I've also read once an article from a source inside my country, about how nicotine, when took out of the context of cigarettes might be actually good for a person, but as long as some serious studies are made about that, let me have all the doubts in the world. Nicotine is said to increase your concentration on short term, but it's also said to make your brain want more and more, so where would you end up?

Reading this title made me remember to Bryan Cranston's Dalton Trumbo perfomance, where He's frequently seen smoking while writing a script. Anyway, not the first time I heard the cognitive enhancing properties nicotine has. But also this excerpts expose arguments regarding the use nicotine as an effective way to prevent movement disorders as Parkinson, since Nicotine stimulates
    dopamine neurotransmitter.

This is a very valid point, the tendency is for people to build up resistance to the effects of nicotine that's how come you hear about people smoking up to five packs a day.

Nicotine is psychoactive so there is always a chance it can affect your performance for better or worse. It's one of those drugs that hits people differently, depends on how you've been eating, etc. It's like caffeine or creatine, it CAN work, but different strokes for different folks.

Actually the only reason people do not go smoking without stopping, is because their body and/or money doesn't allow them, I know people who would love to smoke up to 100 cigarettes a day but do not have the money, also people who can't smoke more than 2 cigarettes in a row because simply their body won't allow them.

I have met people that did smoke 100 cigarettes in one day and they wanted to quit badly. I have also met people that wanted to start smoking but couldn't even get passed half a cigarette before they wanted to throw it away. Fortunately we are not all the same, other wise we would all want the same things and there wouldn't be enough to go around.

That is simply because the people who smoked 100 cigarettes a day were incredibly healthy, only so they could get so much of that poison into their body. And about the people who wanted to start smoking, it doesn't disprove my point, I said that the natural tendency is to want to smoke more and more, once you get hooked on nicotine, but that person wasn't hooked on nicotine so there was no withdrawal going on for that person.

I read that as well and it reminded me this thread, it is really awesome how it can help your creativity, really amazing thing to know.

I wouldn't say so much the nicotine used to help my creativity as much as it had its own unique character to it, like the type of creativity that comes out of nicotine parallels natural creativity in a way that there's no way to really substitute it for something else. Doesn't mean you can't be creative.

I'm not disagreeing with your point. There are people that just have a greater tolerance to cigarettes then others do. The person that reached the 100 cigarettes a day proves your point. I doubt that he started smoking that amount from one day to the other but gradually built his tolerance to that point.
