Wow! I didn't even know that vapor could set of a smoke detector! But, I guess it does make sense of you're using a box mod... those things can give off a lot of smoke.

That's pretty bad but its funny in a way, lmao! At least the hotel didn't report you or even kick you out for the event though.

Thank you very much for the information, I never knew that you could set off a smoke detector with vapors, I guess they're pretty sensitive ones. I also never know the hotels had both rooms for smokers and non-smokers, the places which I've went so far had only no smokers rooms (however you could've smoked there if you wanted, as there we no smoke detectors).

Anything that gives of vapors or any kind of smoke will do this. I'm not surprised by your situation, but I can also understand why you may not have expected that outcome.

Oh yes, especially the newer particle detectors they will get set off very easily.
Not just by vapes, by hair dryers and hair spray can set them off.
I guess you are lucky and all you got was them angry at you.
One kid in a dorm at the college I go to got a $150 fine for setting one off.

Yeah man, I found that out at the place I'm staying right now. The better quality they are, the more they are designed to go off at the slightest signs of releases because that could indicate fires earlier. False alarms are terrible but hey, lesson learned right :)

It depends on the detector. A local mall has one, but they don't go off when people are vaping inside (it is allowed). I guess this also depends on the intensity of the "smoke" and the height the detector is set up at. I assume that the ceilings in that room were a lot lower than the ceiling of a shopping mall.

Hi guys! Here's an article that I found about this issue:

    http://www.ecigarettedirect.co.uk/a...tronic-cigarettes-smoke-detector-warning.html

Anyway, according to the article, it's unlikely but vapour from vaping can still set off alarms. In this case, the vaper went into the bathroom of the airplane and vaped in there. This set off the alarm of the plane and resulted to an emergency landing. I guess, when it comes to such places like hotels and planes, it's better to adhere by the rules and not vape at all.

Hotels have more sensitive alarms as well so it's really possible to set them off. So try looking for the alarm in your room and try to avoid it when vaping. Better yet, go into the terrace or open the windows to vape.

Sell if you told them ahead of time and they did not say anything I cannot see how you are in the wrong. I guess I can see why they are pissed though, but still, I would not say it is your fault. I guess that is something good to know for future reference, because that does sound like something that would be an extra added headache when you already staying at a hotel.

I didn't think that most hotels even offered smoking rooms anymore, but I guess vaping by an open window would be a good solution to that problem.

That must of been fun having to explain vaping to hotel staff. I would suggest opening up the windows. I've heard some people talking about putting a towel around the detector, but I'm pretty sure that is illegal and not the smartest thing to do. It's a good excuse to get some fresh air and vape outside.

I didn't even know vape smoke would set off the alarm. I have a detector in my house that has never gone off even from cigarette smoke. I guess the hotels ones are a lot more sensitive.

I missed that part. I thought this was just a vape pen or something. I was like how could that possibly set off a smoke detector.

I never knew that water vapour could set off a fire alarm. I guess the fire alarm may be sensitive to water and smoke.
