Total Newbie to Vaping - Plz be nice

Hey all, my name is Jason and I am just getting into vaping. Been smoking for 11 years now and 2 weeks ago, i woke up and decided to try and quit, that was extremely hard as I found out later that day, so I started looking for other options.

Considering that I actually like smoking and was only trying to quit because I worry about my health, I started to look into vaping. After a few hours on the net i came to the conclusion that this is an extremely new industry with lot's of good as well as bad news surrounding it daily. Placing all that into consideration:

I decided to try vaping, found a local store my my area and bought a Kanger Nebox. Store clerk was very helpful, setup my device, explained how it works, what to do and how to adjust it. Needless to say, i walked out of that store happy and excited about my future without cigarettes.

Less than 2 hours later, my excitement turned into disappointment as I have noticed my Nebox started leaking. I went back to the store and had to replace that mod with Kanger Subbox.
This mod has been working well for me ever since.

I know there are other, more sophisticated devices out there and I plan to upgrade my Kanger box as soon as I feel comfortable with the fact of not smoking, but so far, I am proud to announce that in the 10 days I had 0 cigarettes.

Kudos to me. Vape on folks.

Well I am pretty sure that we all remember being there. I have a vivid memory of the first time I walked into the local vape store here, which had just opened, and I got one of the workers who clearly did not know all that much about the product, and the two of us talking was just embarrassing for some people to listen to. You learn though, and it is a pretty easy process once you get the hang of it.

 

I got my vaping kit as a present at Christmas, so while I was intrigued by the whole vaping phenomenon, I hadn't dared to take the plunge myself.

I also enjoyed smoking, and the only reason I thought about stopping was purely down to money, so hopefully by giving vaping a go, I can not only be healthier, but I'll achieve my main goal of saving money to be able to spend on other things.

 

It is an amazing feeling when you havent touched a cigarette because you have found something that is more like a gadget to replace it.
The fact that you do not smell of cigarettes I think makes it even better

 

It's never easy, deciding to quit, wish you the best. If you ever feel like going back to cigarettes remember why you decided to quit in the first place. wish you the best!! Stay Vaping!!

 

I love the fact vaping comes in different flavours. It makes is exciting for me

 

It definitely does, I think that's what keeps me from smoking. I usually just buy a new flavor if I feel like having a cigarette.

 

Congrats on making the switch! I definitely felt like I was in some kind of withdrawal when I switched to vaping, not the nicotine of course but you always hear that cigarettes contain so many other chemicals as well. So take it easy on yourself, you'll be an old pro at vaping soon. Welcome!!

 

Congratulations! In no time you will notice a lack of need to smoke cigarettes - which is great! Vaping is a hundred times healthier, cheaper, and overall safer. I recently read a post in here that said that cigarettes are the cause of 10% of fires, so thats another thing you don't have to worry about. Honestly there are a lot of benefits from vaping. Good luck on staying off cigarettes, mate.

 

Hi Jason - I know you posted this a couple of weeks ago. Are you still at 0 cigs?! I hope so! It takes a lot of courage to just up and quit but I guess when you think about the long-term, its a good and sound decision. I struggle hard with not smoking when I am having my occasional alcoholic drink but I can honestly say that vaping has drastically help me cut down and I am aiming to get down to 0 just like you

 

Hello & Welcome You'd be amazed at how fast the time flies sometimes...it's quite easy to get used to vaping and be the one telling everyone about mods within a couple of weeks. If you are interested, it's easy to geek out on how much awesome stuff there is to see/learn about. Be nice to yourself, it's natural!

 

Congrats Jason on finally quitting, it's a huge first step in the right direction. With the kangertech sub box mini you have you should feel pretty satisfied for a while, as it's an all round great setup for the price. Also try and indulge yourself into vaping and try and become a little bit more knowledgeable about it, as that will probably help you keep your mind off cigs. Happy Vaping my man!

The rule of upgrading that I have used, suggest to me by others, is that I only upgrade when I really feel that I am ready. I have moved slowly through the devices since they can be expensive. It also had to fit what I wanted for form and function. I say spend some time with the device you have and once you really feel like you could do more, move up.

It is always a little funny when people say please be nice, like we are all mean. I know it is just people being polite, but the truth is is that when you find something good you usually want to share it with others and are eager to give advice, which is why a place like this is great for everyone. We love to bring people on board and talk about it. We will always be nice, I promise.

 

A forum such as this is more of a community than just a place to come and post a few things, so I think whenever anyone joins they're going to be a bit apprehensive about how others will react to them.

I've been on a forum in the past when certain members have been a bit abrupt and off-hand, simply because a new member as asked a question. Thankfully this forum is a lot more friendly than that one!

 

Congrats on being cig free for 10 days after 11 years of smoking. You story is similar to mine. I also like smoking, and I found that vaping gives me the same satisfaction. As for leaking tanks, that happens with heavy use or with low quality tanks. Don`t worry about it. Just exchange your tank and buy something better. What`s important is that you stay off cigs through vaping.

 

Congrats on getting clean! Vaping also helped me, I can't stand the taste of a normal cigarette after vaping for a week. It's been a great help and I love it that my clothes don't smell, the taste is great. Good luck and keep going! A few more weeks and you won't even stand to be around smokers.

Thank you for sharing your story. I was in the very same boat as you myself and I'm so glad to see that there are so many other members who share the same thing too. It's really nice to know that the solution that I had thought would work for me is also working for others as well. The best part about your story is that you didn't give up despite the disappointment you had at first. That totally deserve all the kudos in the world.
